Voter Knowledge & FAQ

Do I need to show ID to vote?

Maryland does not require photo ID for most voters. First-time voters who registered by mail may need to show ID.

Can I change my party affiliation?

Party affiliation does not affect the general election ballot - every registered voter can vote for any candidate. To change your affiliation for the next primary, the deadline is 21 days before that primary.

What's on my ballot?

The general election includes federal, state, and local races plus any ballot questions (constitutional amendments, referenda). Visit our Candidates page and switch on "Show only my races" to see yours.
